We are looking for additional City Chicken Coops to add to this year’s Chicks-in-the-Hood Pittsburgh Urban Chicken Coop Tour line up. Last year’s urban chicken coop tour drew about 400 participants and raised $1,900 for the Food Bank. This year’s proceeds will go to Grow Pittsburgh. Once again we are limiting the tour to City coops in the East End and the North Side. If you have a poultry palace or a cottage coop and would like to spend a fun filled day talking chicken with other chicken owners or chicken-owner wanna be’s, email Jody atNoblechoder@aol.com

The Pittsburgh Society of Artists Guild (PSA) presents an exhibit at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (PCA) titled “Tone It UP”. This exhibit, juried by Greg Harrison opens to the public with a reception at PCA on Friday May 11, 2012 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.

In light of the recent heated political discourse and violence like the shootings in Arizona this past year and the Occupy Movement, government and media have suggested that we the public need to “Tone it DOWN.” In response to this, Pittsburgh Society of Artists presents an exhibition asking artists to Tone It UP! PSA challenges our members and members of the other guilds to step outside of their comfort zones, pump up the volume and be loud by creating works that express what you the members are truly passionate about. The subject might be political, environmental, cultural, etcetera. The options are open as long as the artists’ passions are expressed in the work.
